Darlaston move quickly to re-sign last season’s top scorer

The new signing should be in contention for a place in the squad for tomorrow nights local derby in the Moldwel League Cup

Darlaston Town are delighted to announce the re-signing of last season’s top scorer Rivel Mardenborough from Hednesford Town.

Rivel, who joined the club at the start of last season topped the scoring charts last season scoring 18 goals, he left Darlaston just as the [players were going to report for pre-season training to sign for Hednesford Town, playing one level higher is step 4. Rivel playing the Second Roud Qua their starting line-up in our Emirates FA Cup Second Qualifying Round tie which Darlaston won 3-0.

Rivel is an outstanding young prospect, and ex-Welsh school boy international who has played at Swansea City as a youth player and Newport County. His reputation grew after a successful season at Paget Rangers scoring 23 goals in 33 appearances and that record was enough to peak the interest of Dean Gill and his Management team before the start of last season.

It is not only Rivel’s impressive goalscoring record that impressed everyone at Darlaston it’s the unseen work that Rivel does off the ball it proved so important to the team last season, and that is probably one of the main reasons Dean Gill has decided move to re-sign the 22 year old striker who should be in contention for place in the squad for tomorrow night’s game.

On re-securing Rivel’s services, Manager Dean Gill said earlier today “Rivel is a fantastic lad who we all welcome back into the fold. He offers abilities that complement our existing forward player in Louis Baker, Kieran Miller, Aaron Bishop & the other recent resigning Jack Downing who rejoined last week from Lye Town.
