Darlaston return to League action tomorrow evening with a trip to Highgate United

Both clubs have not played a League fixture since Bank Holiday Monday, so this wil

Darlaston Town return to league action tomorrow evening when they travel to Solihull to take on Highgate United in a Midland Football League Premier Division fixture, the first of six consecutive midweek fixtures.

So far this season our opponents on Tuesday evening have played probably the most competitive games of any team in the Division so far this season 8 in total, four in the League and the same number in the Emirates FA Cup

Highgate’s season started on the opening day of the season in an Emirates FA Cup tie against Coventry United which ended 2-2. Ryan Harkin scoring Highgate’s opening goal of the season and then adding a second late in the game to level the score after their hosts Coventry United had fought back to take the lead at 2-1.

The replay at Highgate the following Monday evening saw Highgate progress into the second qualifying with an emphatic 4-0 win. The draw for the Second Extra Qualifying Round in this seasons Emirates FA Cup saw them travel too fellow MFL Premier Division colleagues Market Drayton Town. Highgate travelling to Drayton and winning 2-1 win, reserving a place in the hat for the First Qualifying Round of this seasons competition.

They were drawn away at Step 3 side Barwell. Highgate took a first half lead through Ryan Harkin but Barwell equalised very late in the game to force a replay at The Coppice, Highgate’s home. Barwell ran out easy winners 3-0 to end Highgate’s run in this seasons cup.

Highgate’s FA Cup exploits have affected the number of League games they have played, so far this season just four. At present they are in mid-table having won one drawn one and lost two games, securing 4 points.

First was a 2-2 draw against promotion favourites Lichfield City, followed by a big 4-2 win against Lye Town. A 2-1 loss at Stone Old Alleyians followed and on Bank Holiday Monday they lost 2-1 to fellow promoted side Atherstone Town which was the last league game Highgate have played.

Top scorer Ryan Harkin has certainly been in the goals this season scoring 7 in 8 games and is clearly a huge dangerman, together with two from Joseph Cairns, Jack Till and Joshua O’Grady.

Meanwhile, Darlaston who have not played now for two weeks, are well rested with no major injury concerns and look to be going into the fixture with a full squad available, subject to availability, and their new Kappa yellow and white strip should be worn for the first time.

Kick-off is 7.45 p.m.

The game is being played at Highgate United Football Club, The Coppice, Tythe Barn Lane, Shirley, SOLIHULL, B90 1PH.

Admission is £8.00 adults, £4.00 concessions.

Once again we hope to see as many Darlaston supporters as possible to continue the good start to the season, and the first game in an intense period of six weeks or so of two games every week.
