Darlaston is hopeful of another big crowd at tomorrow's penultimate home League fixture, as Dean Gill's squad has only four league games remaining

After a free Saturday last week, Darlaston return to league action tomorrow to play their final four games of the league season.

Last weekend Atherstone Town were crowned League Champions, they have been far the best consistent team in the league this season and to lose only one game is some achievement. Additionally, Stapenhill and Dudley Town secured their places in the play-offs, leaving only one place available, and tomorrow’s opponents Ashby Ivanhoe need a single point to ensure their inclusion.

Ashby and Darlaston played the reverse fixture just four weeks ago at the NFU Sports Ground. Darlaston won 2-0 with goals from Jake Pearson and Maxwell Ngbeken to secure a vital three points. Since that fixture, Ashby has played three games, the weekend following Darlaston’s win Ashby travelled to The Pringle Stadium home of Nuneaton Griff, and suffered a surprising 3-1 loss. Top scorer Sam Grouse scoring their only goal. The following weekend Ashby returned to their NFU Stadium home when they beat Dudley Sports 1-0, Chris Acott scoring the all-important goal.

Last weekend Ashby welcomed Wolves Sporting, jointly managed by ex-Darlaston Town Manager team of Andy Parkes & Scott Moore. Ashby won 3-1. Forward Will Robson and Midfielders Gabe Webster and James Grouse scored the goals to give Ashby a vital three points and take them closer to securing the play-off place.

Tomorrow’s visitors enter the fixture with, we understand a fully fit squad and two influential players returning from suspension, and tomorrow promises a really good game as both teams like to play football in the way game should be played.

Danger men for Ashby include Sam Grouse who has scored 29 goals so far this season, and top scorer Jordan Wilson transferred to Wolverhampton Casuals just before the transfer deadline. Influential midfielder Gay Webster along with new signing Will Robson both scored last weekend offering a further threat.

In any event, Darlaston will have to work hard to continue their long unbeaten run.

Darlaston meanwhile requires two wins and a draw from their last remaining games to secure the runners-up spot thus ensuring that the play-off game on Tuesday 3rd May will be at the Paycare Stadium.

After not playing last Saturday, Manager Dean Gill arranged a friendly against neighbors FC Darlaston on Wednesday evening which proved to be a very good run out with Darlaston Town winning.

We have been advised everyone is fit and fully motivated for tomorrow’s game, and therefore the management team will have a selection headache because everyone appears to be in good form.

We hope many of you will come and support the lads in their penultimate home league game of the season as well as their quest to keep their unbeaten run going until the end of the season and ensure runners up spot in the league, and with a playoff game and cup final the following week to play in, competition for places in the starting-up line within the squad will be severe, because no-one will want to miss any games at this stage of the season, as these are the games that matter.

Four cup finals left in the league and to get the 7 points needed to ensure second place is the priority.
