Tomorrow's game will be the last opportunity for both clubs to prepare for next weekend’s seasons opening fixtures

Tomorrow Darlaston Town will play their final pre-season friendly against Hellenic League Division One side Redditch Borough.

Redditch Borough is a club like many started in youth football around 20 years ago and progressed into adult football by joining the Midland Football League in 2017. Since then, the club has continued to grow in size now fielding successful men’s, women’s and youth football teams serving the community of Redditch. Tomorrow’s opponents are really evolving very much the same way as ourselves, managing a 12 acre site with multiple pitches and aspiring to climb the non-league ladder.

Last season Redditch Borough won Division Two of the MFL by 12 points over rivals AFC Coventry Rangers allowing them to become part of the NLS at step 6. Over their thirty game season tomorrow opponents won 24 games, drawing 5 and just losing one single game.

Over the season Redditch scored 82 goals and conceded just 19, therefore having achieved their goal gaining promotion to Step 6, instead of progressing maybe as thought into Midland Football League Division One, the FA due to their geographic location moved sideways into The Hellenic League along with other MFL clubs such as Bewdley Town, Droitwich Spa, FC Stratford and Southam United, therefore reducing the travel other clubs have had when moving into the Hellenic League.

Redditch Borough, also start their season next Saturday when they welcome Southam United to their home ground, their management team are sure to be looking to field their full strength squad in tomorrow’s game.

Darlaston meanwhile, after a heavy three games in four days, have rested in preparation for tomorrow’s game.

Gates will open as usual at 1.00 p.m.

Kick-off 3.00 p.m.

Admission – Adults £5.00, Concessions £3.00

Please come and support the Club in their final pre-season game and we hope to see as many Darlaston Supporters as possible.
