Darlo are through to this weekends virtual Twitter Cup Final

Simon Cox23 Apr 2020 - 18:47

After another tense day, Darlaston won in extra-time to see off Division One side Old Wulf's to progress to the Twitter Cup Final

Darlaston Town, the Directors, Committee, Club Management of both the Ladies and the Men's team, along with the Youth teams would like to thank EVERYONE who has voted for Darlaston Town over the duration of the West Midlands (Regional) League Twitter Cup.

Today has seen the second vote of around 1,600 for today's semi-final between Old Wulfrunians and Darlaston Town. After an hour's extra-time Darlaston have progressed into the weekends final after winning by the small margin of 1.6%.

I am sure I speak for all when we wish Old Wulfrunains and their supporters all the best in the coming weeks and for next season. Please stay safe and healthy.

The competitions second semi-final starts this evening when Group C winners and near neighbours Wednesfield take on Wyrley, a huge club, kick-off is at 8 pm.

Manager Andy Parkes said after the win "I am delighted to be the first manager since the club reformed to lead the first team out at a major cup final. We have used so many players over recent games, including dragging half of the committee out of retirement, unfortunately, Mr Darlaston let the club down by being sent off and fortunately his suspension will finish after the final".

"Ladies top scorer Sarah Lojko and midfield terrierShani Fieldhouse who were called up semi-final didn't put a foot wrong and have created a selection nightmare, as I am sure all of the 'Stars' will be declaring themselves fit for Saturday night's game".

Parkes finished by saying "The club are going to have to dig deep as the players are looking for an overnight stay and white suits for the final, which I am sure our over-generous chairman who has just started walking after his game will agree too".

At the time of writing this article, the chairman was unable to speak, as he is overcome with emotion after the club reached its first major final in his reign. I am sure we will hear from him and his newly acquired sense of humour before Saturday's final test against either Wednesfield or Wyrley
