Heart felt thanks and love to our supporters who traveled last night. I think that’s 8 games in 4 weeks for lots of you, a huge effort that’s greatly appreciated by me and everyone in our camp.
Anstey’s facilities are as bad as anything we’ve encountered in years, changing rooms, showers, dugouts were filthy, warm up area dangerous and totally unfit for purpose and the pitch was worst we’ve had all season, albeit that doesn’t make one iota difference to the result but standards need to be better surely.
I’m really comfortable last night was a very worthwhile development night, it demonstrated exactly where we are at Step 4 and where we’re not, nothing that happened last night was a surprise to any of us, nothing says Step 4 like Anstey Nomads does, their approach and league positions have proven over the last two seasons to be more successful than any other side other than those promoted.
We’re still obviously behind in our development to be able to beat and surpass that type of performance on and off the pitch week in week out, but that is our aim over the coming months/years.
I think there’s a mini league of Anstey, Long Eaton, Quorn and Corby who are better than the rest in my opinion.
Highlight for us was our application to the game, we were excellent for the first 30 minutes, their first goal was a freak deflection when we were very comfortable, from that point onwards we’re slightly suffering from eight games in 30 days, I have no question marks about our commitment to the cause whatsoever ever and that’s what the future will be built on.
We now have a ten day break to prepare for the final four league games..
Have a good break and I’ll see you soon
