Quorn were better than us, simple. Huge credit to Ryan and his team for an amazing season - congratulations and good luck for the future.

Yesterday, Quorn were better than us, simple. Huge credit to Ryan and his team for an amazing season - congratulations and good luck for the future.

We’re coming to the end of four extremely long and challenging years at Darlaston where it doesn’t seem we’ve not taken a breath both on or off the field, we’ve experienced football highs I didn’t think we’d ever achieve and lows that will live with many of us forever.

If these lads had been horses I’d have been done for cruelty, I’m not exaggerating in saying the staff and I have rode them so hard both mentally and physically, you’d have needed to have been in our camp to understand how hard they’ve worked, we’re probably not going to achieve a play off spot this year and I've got lads absolutely gutted ! They think they’ve failed, we will for the 4th year on the trot finish higher than ever in Darlaston’s history of 151 years and my lads feel distraught - I’m so bloody happy and so proud of them - I truly believe there’s not a team in the country achieved more than them this season and in truth the last 4 years, I can hear all the haters venting and sneering at me saying such a thing but I don’t care, not one bit, I don’t say that for self affirmation at all, I say it because what these lads have achieved is unbelievable.

We chatted after the game about finishing the season with the same enthusiasm, vigour and commitment to ensure we squeeze every last drop out of it - I’m sure that will happen.

A word for our committee, volunteers and supporters who have worked tirelessly over the four years also - thank you.

I think the project as it was is close to being done, competing from bottom of step 6 to competing for a playoff spot to step 3 in 4 seasons is completion as we know it.

Its fair to say without change and positive change it’s near impossible for us to compete, all the people of Darlaston Town need to come together and understand the challenge, I’ll be asking the club to have a ‘Darlaston Town” night for all people invested in the future whatever part you play to attend, I can only speak for myself when I say I can’t push and pull any harder, it’s my belief the club need to reset at the end of this season, that’s with me or without me and plan for the new future.

Have a lovely Mother’s Day.

Dean.
