Darlaston Town hopeful of returning to league action tomorrow night at the Parcare Stadium subject to a lunchtime inspection for when they welcome Coleshill Town in a rearranged game NPL league fixture, after the original game was postponed at the beginning of December.
Colehill Town are just below mid-table 13th place after 23 games in which they have won eight, drawn five and lost ten games and sit on 29 points whereas Darlaston Town who have not played since boxing Day have dropped to 7th in table after 21 games with ten wins, five draws and six losses.
The Pitmen had a difficult December losing 1-0 at Hinckley LR followed by mid-week trip to NPL Western Division side Hednesford Town in the Birmingham Senior Cup and suffered a 3-1.
The weekend before Christmas Coleshill lost at Loughborough Students 2-1thank to an injury time winner by their hosts. The two big Christmas games produced two big wins, firstly 6-0 over out of form Lye Town thanks to four Sam Tye goals, followed by a big 2-1 win at local rivals Sutton Coldfield Town on New Years Day
Last Saturday The Pitmen entertained another local club to Pack Meadow, Racing Club Warwick took the spoils with a 2-0.
Darlaston & Coleshill met earlier this season in mid-September at Pack Meadow. Darlaston raced into a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from skipper Alex Foreshaw and Jack Downing. Darlaston suffered a blow right on half time Coleshill scored in injury time at the end of the first half which ended 2-1 to Darlaston. Winger Ben Usher Shipway scored the equalising goal midway through the second half to give The Pitmen a share of the points.
Dangermen for Coleshill include current top scorer Alex McSkeane with 13 goals Sam Tye on nine, four of which were against his old club Lye Town on Boxing Day. Third in the list is Ben Usher Shipway with four goals then there are six players who have scored three times this season.
Meanwhile, after suffering postponed games on New Years Day and Saturday at Worcester the longer rest has allowed Darlaston’s injured players more time to shrug off those knocks and injuries picked up in recent games, the lads have as always been working hard in training. Manager Dean Gill will obviously be looking closely at the squad for tomorrow’s game as several players will be facing fitness tests before the game.
The gates open at 6:15 pm along with a bar which will be serving its usual pre-match hot food menu only programs will be on sale pay for £2 admission adults £9 concession £7 under 14s free of charge .
We would hope that the hard-core Darton supporters will answer the clubs rally call by bringing friends, neighbours, relatives and work colleagues to the five forthcoming home games this month to spread the non- spread how good Non-League Football is for the fraction of the cost of watching EFL and Premier League fixtures and nights under the lights at the Paycare Stadium are certainly special events on and off the pitch.
We hope to see you all tomorrow evening.
