Tomorrow night at the Paycare Stadium Darlaston will welcome Step 3 Southern League Premier Central side Harborough Town for a Emirates FA Cup First Qualifying Round replay after the sides could not be separated on Saturday after a 0-0 draw at Harborough’s really impressive Harborough Town Community Football Ground
The prize for the winners is a home tie against Southern League Premier Central side Stourbridge, which will be played on Saturday, 14th of September.
Saturday’s game was pretty much an even affair with Darlaston having the better chances James Rowland hitting the inside of the post from the penalty spot, the ball rebounding off the post in to Harborough Elliot Taylor shoulder and then out for a corner. Darlaston had a second chance after great work from Tyler Bruck and Aaron Bishop, Bishops pull back gave Rowland a second opportunity, but a fantastic goal line clearance from ex Coleshill Town defender . Amarvir Sandhu kept the scores level.
Both teams are almost certain to make changes tomorrow due to injuries, player availability and Harborough players returning from suspension, so it will be a very different game tomorrow evening than Saturday, both clubs will want to win in normal time, and not have to settle the tie using extra time or even penalties.
Both clubs have started their league season well after both gaining promotion at the end of last season from The Pitching In Northern Premier League Midlands Division after finishing in third place and gaining promotion through the play-offs the same as Darlaston beating Hinckley L R on penalties. Harborough then went on to beat league runner up Anstey Nomads in the play-off final two nil at Anstey. Whereas Darlaston beat Lichfield City in the Midland Football League play-off final 3-1 at Lichfield to earn promotion into The Pitching In Norther Premier League
There is something special about cup football at the Paycare Stadium under lights the atmosphere generated and recent big nights including last season‘s Emirates FA Cup loss against Sporting Khalsa at the same stage last season, along with big wins over Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Bromwich Albion in the Birmingham Senior Cup created many memories for Darlaston supporters, volunteers , team management and players alike.
Tomorrow night is a wonderful opportunity for the people of Darlaston and the Black Country and non-league football community to get behind one of their own to help the club progress in what we all know is such an historic competition and with the promise of a massive black country derby against Stourbridge
Therefore, we hope to see many current old and new faces at the Paycare Stadium tomorrow to support Dean and his players in their attempt to reach the Second Round Qualifying of the FA for the first time since the late 1970’s.
