Following Tuesday evenings outstanding performance at Highgate United, Darlaston Town welcome Wolverhampton Casuals to The Paycare Stadium tomorrow for their first local derby of the season.
The last time that the clubs met was in The West Midlands Regional Premier Division at The Paycare Stadium under lights and this ended 0-0. Dean Gill was in the away dugout as Manager of tomorrows opponents.
Wolverhampton Casuals have not started the season as they would have wished, after five games they are lying in 19th place on 3 points having won one game and losing the remaining four with a goal difference of -6. Wolverhampton Casuals started the season with two wins in the first qualifying round of this seasons Emirates FA Cup at Hinckley AFC and in the first league game of the season beating Tividale 2-1 at their Brinsford Lane Stadium.
Since beating Tividale, Casuals have had a difficult time. First they suffered a 3-0 loss at promotion favourites Lichfield City. In the Second Qualifying Round of the Emirates FA Cup fellow MFL Premier Division side Stone Old Alleynians held Casuals to a 3-3 at Brinsford Stadium, unfortunately, Wolverhampton Casuals lost out in the replay the following mid-week 2-1 at Stone.
Returning to league action over the August Bank Holiday weekend, Saturday saw a 1-0 reverse away at Whitchurch Allport followed by a Bank Holiday Monday 2-1 loss to Stourport Swifts.
This Tuesday evening after just over a two week break Wolverhampton Casuals returned to action at home against Lye Town who inflicted a 3-1 loss on their hosts.
Casuals Management team recruited well in the summer acquiring the services of prolific goal scorer Adam Garmson who has scored 4 goals in seven starts so far this season and is clearly their danger man. Matthew Hearsey and Joshua Hesson have chipped in with two goals a piece.
Tomorrow offers a fantastic fixture with the history between the two clubs and the success of Dean Gill as manager of Wolverhampton Casuals who is responsible for getting them promoted into Step 5 of The National League System at the beginning of last season following the FA’s reorganisation.
A large crowd is expected at The Paycare Stadium to support two local teams.
Darlaston meanwhile, buoyed by their fantastic game on Tuesday evening coming from behind twice to secure a draw at much-fancied Highgate United.
It appears that Dean Gill has a fully fit and fully available squad to choose from apart from long-term absentee Andy Nicol and as usual the gates will open at Darlaston at 1.00 p.m. along with the bar, which will be serving its usual pre-match food, including the “world’s best cobs”.
Entrance is £6.00 adults, £4.00 concessions, and children under 10 free.
We hope to see as many Darlaston supporters as possible to look to cheer their side on.
