Tomorrow, Darlaston Town will face their biggest test of the season so far after their promotion to the Northern Premier League Midlands Division, when they welcome the Division’s current leaders Corby Town to the Paycare Stadium.
So far this season Carby Town have played fourteen games, winning ten, drawing three and losing one and are top of the Division by a point over Quorn who have no game tomorrow following the postponement of their scheduled fixture against Walsall Wood. Darlaston who are in fourth place go into tomorrows game nine points behind Corby with a game in hand.
The Steelmen’s only loss of the league season was against second placed Quorn Corby’s away form has been exceptional so far and they have won five of the seven games played the remaining two games have been draws, which were against Coventry Sphinx and Wellingborough Town. They have beaten on the road Hinckley LR, Grantham Town, Lye Town, Bedworth United and on last Tuesday night cup specialists Ansty Nomads. In their last six league fixtures Corby have won three, drawn two and lost their only game of the season
The Steelmen appear to be one of the most fancied teams for promotion this season, their form does suggest that, so Darlaston will go into tomorrow’s game as underdog’s.
Corby Town’s danger men is clearly 20 year old Fletcher Toll who joined The Steelmen from Downham Town in the summer so far has scored 15 goals (13 in the league) putting him top o the Division’s scoring charts five more than Simeon Cobourne and Kaiman Anderson who have both scored 8 so far. Thirteeen further Corby players have scored this season, the remainder are lead Ruben Marshall and Jordan O’Brian who have scored on three occasions.
Corby are expected to bring a large travelling contingent to tomorrow’s game to support their club and it is hoped that the people of Darlaston turn out in their numbers to support Dean Gill and his squad.
Darlaston, are coming off the back of two wins against Sutton Coldfield Town last Saturday and Lye Town on Tuesday, are in good form and despite these wins will enter tomorrow’s game as underdogs, especially given that players will be missing through suspension, availability and injuries. Manager Dean Gill will utilise his squad fully tomorrow and it is certain there will be changes made to the home sides starting eleven.
It will be service as usual at the Paycare Stadium tomorrow the gates will open at 1.00 p.m. along with the bar, which will be serving its usual pre-match hot and cold food.
