For the second consecutive week, Darlaston Town face a trip down the M6 to play Northern Premier League Midlands Division opposition, tomorrow we play Bedworth United
Bedworth United have been long established within this Division for many season’s and they have always been in and around mid-table finish, last year was their highest finish for several years finishing 9th.
This season however, has been a more difficult start. After fifteen games the Greenback’s are currently 16th ,after playing 15 game, Bedworth have won three, drawn five and lost seven games. At home on their 3G surface they have won two of their eight home fixtures, drawing two and losing four. The last six league fixtures four of which were away from their Oval Ground have produced three draws, two losses and a single win
The run started with a 2-2 draw at promotion chasing Long Eaton United followed by a trip to Hinckly LR where once again Bedworth drew this time 1-1. A home game against league leaders Corby Town saw Bedworth lose 3-1. A mid-week trip to Birmingham the following Tuesday produced yet another draw 0-0 at Sutton Coldfield Town.
Bedworth’s third win of the season was at Loughborough Students a 2-1 win and last Saturday their first home game for several weeks, the Greenback’s welcomed inform and second placed Quorn. It was the visitors who took all three points after another 3-1 win.
Top scorer for Bedworth is Johnathan Letford with four goals, followed by Elliott Parrot and Leo Stone with two each.
Darlaston meanwhile have had yet another full week’s rest, after last week’s draw at Wellingborough. The week’s rest was much needed, to try and ease the injury crisis that Dean Gill’s squad is currently experiencing. The fit players have trained twice this week whereas the injured players received treatment so as they may make the squad for the visit to Bedworth.
