Darlaston Town tomorrow evening return to Pitching In Northern premier League action when they welcome Grantham Town for their first ever visit to the Paycare Stadium
Grantham’s starts the season has been disjointed as as Darlaston with Emirates FA Cup and Isuzu FA trophy games, tomorrow evenings fixture was rearranged from Saturday, the 31st August when both clubs played in the last round of the FA Cup.
Tomorrow night’s opponents have played one game more than Darlaston and find themselves in 20th place on 3 points after they have drawn three of their games so far this season losing the other two. Saturday they will return to cup action when they travel to Gainsborough Trinity for their Second Round Qualifying tie
Grantham’s league season started at home to Walsall Wood and ended 2-2 after both sides scored in the 90th minute after Grantham had taken the lead midway through the second half., The following Tuesday evening Grantham travelled to Loughborough Students and were beaten 2-0.
After a break for Emirates Cup action the following Saturday Grantham welcomed league leaders Corby Town to their South Kesteven Stadium and were beaten 1-0 after conceding a second half goal. Over the August Bank Holiday weekend Grantham drew at Bedworth United in the league and played out a 2-2 draw against local rivals Shepshed Dynamo on Bank Holiday Monday after going into the half time break 2-1 down. That was the last league fixture the Gingerbreads played.
Midfielder Bradley Munns is Grantham’s dangerman having scored 4 in all competitions this season followed by Luke harris and Rodrigo Goncalves both with two each
Darlaston Town exited two major cup competitions within days, suffering injury time heartbreak against Step 3 side Harborough Town when extra time loomed. Manager Dean Gill and squad have re grouped over the weekend and they trained exceptionally well last night, but due to the intense period of games several members of the squad are carrying injuries, and we are hoping some players will have recovered in time to take part in tomorrow evenings game. Suspensions aren’t helping with Kieran Miller missing three games starting on Saturday after being sent off after Saturday’s game against Cleethorpes Town.
As usual the gates will open tomorrow evening at 6:15 pm along with the bar will open at the same time serving as usual pretty much hot food
Admission: Adults £9, Concession £7 (Over 65 and children over 14) Under 14’s free Programme £2 available from the pay hut. Teamsheets will be available in the bar pre-match.
We hope to see as many Darlaston Town supporters as possible tomorrow evening as the club can concentrate on league fixtures. Your support is vitally important so we hope you can bring friends and family to the stadium to to enjoy the Darlaston experience
