After a rare mid-week off Darlaston Town tomorrow return to Northern Premier League action with a trip to Loughborough University Stadium to play Loughborough Students kick-off 3 pm.
Very much like Darlaston Loughborough Students were promoted via the play-offs at the end of last season from the United Counties League. The Students finished third and after beating fourth placed Melton Town 1-0 at home to set up home play-off final tie against fifth placed Skegness Town, who they trounced 7-0 to be promoted.
Loughborough Students have adjusted to life at step 4 in the NPL Midlands Division well, they currently occupy 18th place they have won two lost four scoring 12 goals and conceding 13. The Students have done well in The Emirates FA Cup and Isuzu FA Trophy which has probably had an impact of the start in the new league.
The Students made the First Round Qualifying in the Emirates FA Cup and lost out in the Second Round Qualifying of the Isuzu FA Trophy to fellow NPL Hinckley LR on penalties after a 1-1 draw in normal time.
Their league campaign started with a 2-1 loss at Coleshill Town followed by 2-0 win in their first home league game of the season against Grantham Town at their outstanding Loughborough University Stadium. A second successive home game saw them lose their second game of the season 3-1 to newly promoted Worcester City on the Saturday of August Bank Holiday weekend the on Bank Holiday Monday they suffered a 5-3 loss at AFC Rushden & Diamonds.
After an Emirates FA Cup exit at Bottesford Town and a 1-0 win over Sheffield in the FA Trophy Loughborough Students return to league inflicting a heavy 5-1 loss on Rugby Town 5-1. This week on Wednesday evening lost to Boldmere Saint Michaels 2-0 at their Loughborough University Stadium
Dangermen for the Students are Quinton Zolani Dlodlo and Joshua Stroud both have scored five times. Felipe Morales Moya on three and within the squad there has been 12 different scorers, so the danger can come from anywhere.
