After a rare week off Darlaston Town tomorrow return to action at the Paycare Stadium with yet another game under lights when they welcome Racing Club Warwick for a Northern Premier League Midlands Division fixture.
Racing Club Warwick like Darlaston Town are playing their first season in the Northern Premier League Midlands Division after taking the same route a Darlaston by earning promotion through the end of season playoffs after finishing runners up in the United Counties League Premier South Division, they beat third placed Aylestone Park 2-1 in the playoff final to secure promotion. Darlaston Town and Racing Club Warwick were drawn to play each other in the semi-final of the Birmingham Senior Cup, The Racers winning 2-0 to meet Aston Villa in the final where they comfortably lost to their Premier League opponents.
Racing Club Warwick are starting to adjust to life in the Northern Premier League under the stewardship of Scott Easterlow and his management team. There have been some changes within the squad from last season with some very useful additions but also key players from last season such as top scorer Louis Monaghan along with midfielders Cameron Ebbutt, Ryan Andrews and skipper Kyle Barnett have been retained for this season.
Going into tomorrow’s fixture Racing Club Warwick are in mid table in 15th place, playing 10 games, winning three and losing seven securing nine points six points behind Darlaston Town and having played a game more than tomorrows hosts.
The season did not start well for the Racers, they opened the season with two wins in six games, including an Emirates FA Cup exit at the hands of Hednesford Town. Their first two wins were at home against Coleshill Town (1-0) and a close game 4-3 against Sporting Khalsa on August Bank Holiday weekend.
A run of four games without a win including a first round exit in the Isuzu FA Trophy by Hanley Town followed, Racing Club Warwick third win of the season was a 2-1 win at local rivals Bedworth United on the last Saturday of September. Last Saturday the Racers were beaten by Lye Town 2-1 at home.
Dangermen for the Racers are last season’s top scorer Louis Monaghan who leads the scoring charts at the club again with 3 so far, followed by five players scoring twice so far these are Ben Edmunds Archie Hamp Josh McKenzie Greg Mills and Connor Taylor.
Darlaston Town have taken the opportunity to rest up following last Wednesday’s fantastic win at the Paycare Stadium over Worcester City, the players were given the weekend off, they completed a full training session last night in preparation for tomorrow’s big game. The management team have been working hard as always looking to add to the group, but at the time of writing this article no new players have been added to the squad.

Given the break ins since the Worcester game, the club are desperate for the support of the local community. The club is hoping that everyone gets behind the club and existing supporters continue to bring new faces to the club to increase the gate.
