Darlaston return to the Paycare Stadium tomorrow afternoon and will welcome Long Eaton United for a Northern Premier League Midlands Division fixture.
Because there are no local EFL or Premier League fixtures this weekend we urge local football supporters to come to the Paycare Stadium tomorrow afternoon to see what non-league football is all about. It’s; 5th vs 6th another crucial game in Darlaston’s season and they need your support.
Tomorrow’s game is not the first time the clubs have ever met, Darlaston travelled to Long Eaton United for an FA Vase fixture in the 2007/08 season and lost 3-0 to The Blues.
Like Darlaston this is Long Eaton’s first season in the NPL Midland’s Division, last season they were relegated from the Southern League Central Division after finishing in the bottom two. The 2023/24 season was the clubs first at step 3, they were promoted from the NPL Eastern Division after winning the playoff’s following a fourth placed finish.
The Blues have adjusted to life in the Midlands Division very quickly and go into tomorrow’s fixture in 5th place in the league, one place above Darlaston. Long Eaton United are currently in great form, wining four of their last six games, and three of those wins have been their last three games.
October started with a 2-2 draw at home to Bedworth United, last Saturday victors over Darlaston Town, the next six games split equally three at home and away stated with a great 2-1 win at Boldmere St. Michaels. The Blues entertained Worcester City the following Saturday, again there were three goals in the fixture, all in the second half, but it was Worcester who took the points winning 2-1.
Long Eaton suffered their heaviest defeat for many seasons at then league leaders Corby Town on the this Saturday of October losing 7-0. They bounced back well with a 3-0 win at Shepshed Dynamo the following Saturday.
In November Long Eaton United are unbeaten after tow consecutive home games, firstly a big 5-2 win over Ansty Nomads, Darlaston’s opponents on Wednesday evening and last Saturday two second half goals gave the Blues a 2-0 win over promotion hopefuls Sutton Coldfield Town.
After last weekends 3-1 loss at Bedworth United, Darlaston’s injury crisis still remains even though the players have been able to rest this week once again dur to no midweek fixture. With suspension’s and availability, the squad is likely to be down to bear bones tomorrow, some players will require late fitness tests before the game.
